Since this is not on the syllabus but I want to write overall thoughts of this course:
This course was the best one ever! I loved to write expressive stories, share thoughts, and I really enjoyed it. It had boosted my creativity levels sky high. I will continue to write creative stories especially my newsletter "USA Yesterday" which is popular with my professors. I will miss this course a lot but will cherish the moments of what other students wrote. Even though I lost the creative writing contest which was a huge bummer but I will not give up. I find that not many deaf people do not know lots of puns. I am lucky to have a special gift to know puns and playing with the English language syntax.

Play/Video feedback
I showed this to a tutor and this what the tutor told me:
"YOUR VIDEO AND PLAY WAS BORING! I DID NOT LIKE IT! NOT ONE BIT!"
Just kidding. The tutor loved it. He told me that he felt that the play was hilarious feeling that the play could be on a big stage production. He loved how creative I was with the characters and the sound effects added. Also the cabinet pun was hilarious. Because the cabinet meeting was actually taking place in a K-Mart cabinet and that gave a good twist to the English structure. He was floored of how much irony I used and the blending of current events to make the story funny. My video clip was amazing and the tutor really enjoyed it. He was touched by how much I want to be a deaf interpreter in the future. It was amazing to hear that kind of feedback. He also enjoyed reading my newsletter too.

Photos from the events that I went
The play that I went. A deaf play which was really good!
My former English teacher Russell Kane now a professor at Nassau Community College. Told stories about his deaf life and he is HILARIOUS!
I met Bello Nock at New Victory Theater. Went on a special backstage tour. On the right is one of the best interpreters in NYC Candance Penn.

I find it interesting that I'm not a poet nor a lover of poetry. People told me that my poem is perfect little flaws there. One person told me it was more of a map than a poem. I love Midtown but the problem is that there are too many things occurring in Midtown and how can I cram in there. It is like in a supermarket you cannot cram all of the products in one roof right? You have to kick out some products to make room for new stuff. The tricky part is how to make the poem sounds new and modern than using boring same old grind like slower than a turtle. Needs to wake up and perk up the poem itself. When I read a poem sometimes I get bored and not bothering read it. But sometimes the author tricks the reader thinking it a story but it actually a poem. For example Maya Angelou wrote many poems and it is inspiring to read those. Touchy and poems have to be adjusted for the right audience. Sometimes audience can vary in English skills and the poets have to match the levels. My poem is pretty good English but if I was telling along to the younger audience I have to change the level of the poem.

My writer statement
As a deaf person myself I noticed often deaf people do struggle with puns and humor when they write stories. I have noticed this trend over the times. I get puns from current events and the English language syntax. Growing up I always was motivated to learn new vocabulary and at my High School times my vocabulary expanded. For example the infamous cabinet word. A cabinet meeting which means a governmental staff like the presidential cabinet. But I take the word cabinet and using both definitions. Example "A cabinet meeting is taking place in a cabinet in a K-Mart". I also play with current events and if you noticed in my USA Yesterday I never write a depressing or a violent story. I do not like violence and feel that if I wrote a violent story the humor will be let go and the reader will be puzzled.
At the last page I always like to put down fake ad playing with the deaf and the hearing world cultures. For example the very first ad I wrote down was "Learn Sign Language Through A Phone! No Video Equipment Required". In the real world it is impossible to learn that type of language because it requires visual contact. Then came the fake interpreter scandal with the Mandela interpreter. I mocked that by blending him and a real life interpreter agency that many sign language interpreters do not support due to hiring unqualified interpreters and pay reasons. I cannot name the agency due to privacy reasons but I play with that concept. I even put down sarcasm in the ad by saying "Listen to those satisfied deaf clients whom used our agency!" but those people were not happy. Would you like a interpreter pelting you vegetables because you didn't speak clearly or loudly. No!
I love to write funny stories and playing with the words. I get thrilled when people discovered that they didn't realize that it was written by a deaf person. 12 pages I wrote all myself and they were all floored.
